After all kinds of rumors, the Samsung Galaxy M21 has been officially presented. The smartphone stands out for its huge 6000 mAh battery and large OLED screen and costs only 170 USD. The device may available in India.
Samsung Galaxy M21 Specs
The Galaxy M21 is the successor of the Galaxy M20 Power that came out last year and has a 5000 mAh battery. The latest model goes a step further and has a 6000 mAh battery. That is huge because most comparable smartphones have a 3500 to 4500 mAh battery. Thanks to the large battery, the Galaxy M21 has to last for two to three days on one battery charge.
Despite the hefty battery, the smartphone is 188 grams lighter than many regular devices. This is partly due to the plastic housing. The device comes with a 15 Watt USB-C plug, which charges the battery relatively quickly.
Also striking on the Galaxy M21 is the OLED screen. An OLED screen usually delivers a better image than an LCD screen and is slightly more energy-efficient, but also more expensive to make. That is why few smartphones under 300 USD have such a display. The Galaxy M21 is one of the cheapest devices with an OLED screen, which is also 6.4-inch in size and shows a sharp full-HD resolution.
Furthermore, the smartphone has 4GB or 6GB RAM with 64GB or 128GB internal storage space, including a micro-SD slot. The device has a headphone port, runs on an Exynos octa-core processor and has a triple camera on the back. It is a primary 48-megapixel camera, 8-megapixel wide-angle lens and 5-megapixel depth sensor for portrait photos. At the front is a 20-megapixel selfie camera.
The Galaxy M21 runs on the new Android 10 with the OneUI 2.0 shell from Samsung. This software shell can be found on all recent Galaxy devices, including the Galaxy A50 and Galaxy Note 10.
Possibly also an India release
Samsung first releases the Galaxy M21 in India. The 4GB / 64GB version costs 170 USD, the 6GB / 128GB edition has not yet received a price. Nothing is known about a possible release in other countries.
Last year ‘s Galaxy M20 Power first came out in India and later also appeared all over the world. That device received a suggested retail price of 250 USD. Should the Galaxy M21 come out here, it is expected to cost the same as its predecessor.
