For designers, visualizing their ideas is crucial, but they must also maintain a clean workspace as they develop. Therefore, they tend to delete unnecessary artboards regularly.
In Illustrator, you can delete pages if you are new to the Design field. If you’re a designer already, you might find the different panel options confusing, even if you’ve tried them before.
Delete refers to the entire artboard rather than the objects set on it. Here’s some help if you need it.
Through artboards, designers can create single design elements or entire compositions using Adobe Illustrator. When vector graphics are rendered, the elements will remain the same size, regardless of the screen resolution. This is one of the advantages of vector graphics.
In addition to the minimum requirements for each computer’s brand (Windows or macOS) when using the program, you should note that this is applicable for the visualization of final designs.
Requirements For Windows Users
- AMD Athlon 64 or multicore Intel processor with support for 64-bit Windows.
- Versions of Windows 10 (64-bit) V21H1, V20H2, V1909, and V2004 are supported.
- Additionally, it runs on Windows Server versions V1607 (2017) and V1809 (2019).
- The minimum RAM requirement is 8 GB, but 16 GB is recommended.

- Software activation, subscription validation, and online services require an Internet connection.
Requirements for Mac Users
The processor must support SSE 4.2 or later on multi-core Intel processors (with 64-bit support).
- This computer runs on versions of macOS 12.0 (Monterrey), 11.0 (Big Sur), and 10.15 (Catalina).
- A minimum of 8GB of RAM is recommended, but a maximum of 16GB is recommended.
- Installation requires 3 GB of hard-disk space; additional free space is required during installation. SSD is recommended.
- The monitor resolution should be 1024×768 (1920×1080 recommended).
- It is recommended that you have at least 1024 MB of VRAM on your Mac to use GPU performance.
- Activating software, validating subscriptions, and accessing online services require an Internet connection.
Regardless of your computer brand, Adobe Illustrator uses the artboard as its main focus; it is the “canvas” from which you create your artwork. The orientation of an artboard can be set, the name can be customized, and it can be reordered and rearranged accordingly.
By laying out designs for different devices and screens on artboards, you can streamline your design process. Printable and exportable artwork is stored in artboards. A variety of preset sizes are available for creating artboards, or you can define your own.
Multiple artboards can be added to a document in Illustrator CS4, providing a way to create multi-page documents. Creative Suite 4 introduces multiple artboards, which were previously only available for single-page documents.
In a document, you can create several artboards if you have different ideas about a project, and delete 999 if you want to keep the final version. In a document, you can specify how many artboards it should have when creating it, and you can add and remove them as needed.

The Artboard tool allows you to customize the shape, size, and location of your artboards.
- Set the location, shape, and size of the artboard by selecting the Artboard tool.
- You can use preset artboards from the Artboard Options dialog box.

Artboard Options
Choose one of the following options to open the Artboard Options dialog box:
- Select the Artboard tool by double-clicking it
- In the Properties or Control panels, click the Artboard tool and then the Artboard Options button.
- Choose Artboard Options from the flyout menu of the Artboards panel.
You can specify the following options in the Artboard Options dialog box
- Name: Names the artboards.
- Preset: Specifies artboard dimensions. Aside from setting the appropriate aspect ratio for the output, these presets also set the video ruler pixel aspect ratio.
- Width and Height: The dimensions of the artboards.
- X: and Y: Position: Determines where the artboard should be in the workspace based on Illustrator’s rulers. To view these rulers, choose View > Show Rulers.
- Orientation: Determines whether the page should be landscape or portrait orientation.
- Show Cross Hairs: Shows crosshairs on each side of the artboards.
- Video Ruler Pixel Aspect Ratio: This setting determines the aspect ratio of pixels used in video rulers.
- Artboards: The number of artboards that exist.
Furthermore, as you produce draft designs, you may wish to preview them on a white background rather than separately on different artboards to see how they look together. Using Command + Shift + H, you can hide the artboards if that’s the case.
Adobe Illustrator is generally regarded as running better on Mac than on Windows, but if you have good ideas and want to do a good job, it doesn’t matter. Nevertheless, there are some differences between Mac and Windows, especially in shortcuts.

Follow these steps to delete from the Artboards panel:
- Select the artboard you want to delete on the More Options icon, up to the left.

Now, if you want to delete an artboard from the Artboards Tool just follow these steps:
- Click the ‘window’ drop-down menu, go to ‘Artboards’, then press Shift+O.
- You can delete an artboard by selecting it. In the upper-left corner, you’ll see the name of the artboard and its number.
- You can delete an artboard by pressing ‘backspace’ in the control panel, clicking ‘delete’ in the artboards panel, or clicking on the ‘delete’ button at the bottom of the panel.
Troubleshooting
You can’t delete an artboard if you haven’t selected it, which is one of the common problems. As we mentioned in the first part of this article, you cannot delete the artboard by pressing the delete key, as it will only delete the objects on it. Therefore, the artboard needs to be selected or used with the Artboard Tool to be removed from the panel.
Check that the objects you just deleted are not locked if you can’t delete them from the artboard you just deleted. These are usually locked, so you’ll need to unlock them. You can unlock all objects by selecting Object > Unlock All from the overhead menu. Selecting and deleting the objects should then be possible.
Lastly,
